Install SCCM 2012 R2 (7)

Install Windows Updates

  1. Remove WID Database role for Windows Server updates Services


  2. After removing it, go back to add roles and features wizard to add Database for WSUS


  3. Input SQL server name (in my case, SQLPKI1 only, but if it is DC1\SQL2008 then input dc1\sql2008 format)


     
     


     
     

  4. After installing it, Click Launch Post –Installation Tasks


  5. Wait


  6. Completed


  7. Start>Administrative Tools>Windows Server update Services


  8. Cancel to exit at the moment

Configure Windows Update Point on SCCM

  1. Go to Administration>Overview>Site Configuration>Servers and Site System Roles


  2. Set vmlab\sa_sccm account for Site System Installation Account


     
     


     
     


     
     


     
     


     
     


     
     


     
     


     
     


     
     

  3. Select Windows server 2008 R2 and 2012


     
     


     
     


     
     


  4. Go to Software Library>Overview>Software Updates>Software update Groups>Synchronize Software Updates


     
     


     
     

  5. And then, click All Software update to verify the list synchronized

Create a device Collection

  1. Go to Assets and Compliance>Overview>Device Collections>Create a Folder Name it>Create Device Collection


  2. Input name and comment properly, and click Browse


  3. Select All Desktop and Server Clients


     

  4. Add Rules>Query Rule


  5. Name it
  6. Click Import Query Statement


  7. Select All Client Systems


  8. Edit Query Statement


  9. Under general Tab>Select Operating System Name and version


     
     


     
     


     
     


  10. Devices>Device Collection>Right Click Windows Server 2012 R2 Security Patches collection>Show Members


     
     


  11. If it is not on the list, go to Devices>right click on the target server >Add Selected Items> Add Selected items to Existing Device Collection


     
     


     
     

Deploy Software Updates to a target device

  1. Create C:\WSUS\Security Patches Folder and Share it


     

  2. Under Security Patches folder> Create a New folder name May 2014


  3. Go to Software Library>Software updates> Add Criteria>Product>Add


  4. Click product name to select Windows Server 2012 and R2


     
     

  5. Add Bulletin ID and type MS
  6. Click Search


  7. Click Save Current Search As on the ribbon menu


  8. Name it


  9. Select all the updates>Right click>Deploy


  10. Edit Deployment Name and Description>Browse


  11. Select Windows Server 2012 R2 Security Patches collection


     

  12. Next with default settings


     
     


  13. Select as below options


  14. Next as default


     
     


     
     

  15. Input package path and priority


  16. Select Distribution point


  17. Next as default download software updates from the internet


  18. Next
